The Year Was 2006

THE YEAR WAS 2006

An exhibition of 100 jewellery pieces made in 2006

19th – 30th June 2012
CELEBRATION DRINKS - Saturday 23rd June 4-6pm

2006. It was a common year that started on a Sunday. John Howard was PM and Pluto was no longer classified as a planet. It is often bandied about that art is a reflection of our society; intrigued, we set out to find what 2006 might have looked like in terms of contemporary jewellery. 100 jewellers from across the globe have been invited to present one piece of jewellery they made 6 years ago. Presented as a salon hang, this exhibition will showcase an incredibly diverse array of jewellery and will give an overall snapshot of what these jewellers were thinking, making and the materials they were using all those years ago in 2006.

Workshop.........

Here are some random images of the workshop I share with 4 furniture makers. Its a large warehouse space in Hindmarsh, Adelaide. The time has come when we need a name as a social event is happening here during the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) festival in August and we will be known as Workshop no name...... The guys have been in the workshop a year longer than me so agreeing on a name now is proving hard. Any suggestions for us are most welcome!!

Leaf Litter

Just something I have been working on recently. Leaves made from copper and brass and patinated a brown colour. One silver leaf that I will be making into a brooch.

Set up at Red Poles

Setting up the show at Red Poles Gallery in McLaren Vale. Rammed Earth walls means no nails in the walls so everything needs to be hung or on on plinths. So my installation was not able to be put up but I did make some jewellery to go with the show instead.
